About Bihar Fire Service

Bihar Fire Service was established on March 1, 1946 and served as the sole fire department of Bihar and Jharkhand. Currently, after the division of Jharkhand from Bihar it is functioning in 38 districts, 101 sub-divisions and in 19 other important places in the state of Bihar. For the purpose of smooth functioning, professional efficiency, control and supervision the Bihar Fire Service is extended at the level of Headquarter, Divisions, Districts, Sub-Division and Police Stations.

At Present total no of 107 Fire Stations are working out of 120. To run Bihar Fire Service smoothly in state Bihar Bihar Fire Service Act in 1948 and accordingly rule in 1955 has been notified.

To provide for better regulation of fire fighting, carrying out fire fighting measures, enforcing fire safety measures in buildings and for modern organisational structures “ Bihar Fire Service Act 2014 " has been implemented across the state in 2014. The Government of Bihar has notified the Bihar Fire Service Rules, 2021 on 20th of March 2021.

The Bihar fire service continues to make sincere endeavour by responding to fire/rescue calls to serving the people of the Bihar with the sole motto ‘WE SERVE TO SAVE’.

  • Remember, FIREMAN IS YOUR FRIEND.
  • Give way to reach quickly at the incident.
  • Remove encroachments or objects likely to cause fire or any obstruction to fire fighting.
  • Don’t park any vehicle close to fire hydrants/underground static water tanks. Guide firemen to water sources i.e., Tube wells, ponds, static tanks etc. in case of fire.

When Not To Fight A Fire

Never fight a fire: -

  • If the fire is spreading beyond the spot where it started.
  • If the fire can block your only escape.
  • If you don't have proper and adequate fire-fighting equipment or agent/extinguishing media.
